The
beautiful dream-like island
Mindoro
|
Covering an area of approximately
10 000 square meters,
Mindoro is the seventh largest island
in the Philippines and sits
in the west of the Philippine island kingdom.
Inland Mindoro is mainly a mountainous
and hilly region over which thick,
and often impenetrable, jungle has grown,
making the region partially inaccessible.
The mountains in this region reach
as high as almost 2 600 metres above sea level.
Mangyan tribes in their most primitive form
still live in inland Mindoro today.
This mountainous region is also
the only place in the world
where you may see the Tamaraw,
a type of water buffalo

A little outside of Sablayan, on a headland
between the Sabang River and the sea, you will find
Gustav's
Place

"Gustav's
Place" - here you will stay in a nice, clean and
pleasant
bungalow or room with a shower and toilet. accommodation
stands
on the never-ending, secluded sandy beach, under palm
trees.

Some 2.5 kilometres offshore,
in the South China Sea,
in front of 'Gustav's Place'
are the Pandan islands.
On one of them there is
a diving school.

Despite its relative proximity
to the main island of the Philippines,
Luzon, with the capital city Manila,
Mindoro is one of the islands
to have most preserved its original state,
to be at its most natural,
and to have been left in peace
and is so from a tourism perspective too.

The island of Mindoro can be visited all year round!
The climate in the Philippines makes the October–May
period the best time to visit.
