The path leads
over a wooded
crest with many places
with a good view
from Pinsdorf to the
lake Attersee.
Off course,
you can also
just walk on a part
of the crest, starting from
various villages
and into various
directions along forest roads
and paths.
In the southern part
of the region exists a
relatively narrow road
between the lake
Attersee and the valley Aurach-Tal..
The longest crossing
begins at the
animal kingdom museum Höller
in the valley of the Aurach (480 m)
- 15 minutes by car
from the house Grabler, Altmünster.
Here you’ve
got the possibility to drive up
the road to the
inn Kronberg (800 m).
Walk, beginning from the inn, in about
one-and-a-half hour
over the Hongar (943 m) to the
inn Schwarz
(884 m), where you can enjoy
the great view of the
mountain range Höllengebirge
and of the foothills of the Alps.
This inn can be reached
also from the northern side of the
Hongar, from the village
Aurach am Hongar –
first drive up the street about 750 m
and then walk in about
20 minutes to the inn.
Walk from the inn Schwarz
in about one hour
over the mountain Alpenberg
(973 m) to the serviced alpine pasture hut
Kreuzingalm (800 m).
If you'd like to go from the
Kreuzingalm to the last summit
before the lake Attersee,
to the Gahberg (864 m)
with his great view of the lake
Attersee and the region Attergau,
you will need another hour of walk.
Unfortunately there
isn’t any attractive
way-back variant
on this tour –
if it’s possible go with two cars
and park one at the beginning
and one on the end of the tour.
However, in the middle part
of the crest is a shorter
round-trip possible:
Go by car to the valley
of the Wessenaurach
in the village Kasten (563 m)
and walk in about one hour
up the Hongar.
In further 20 minutes
you’ll reach the
inn Schwarz,
and go then to the
Kreuzingalm,
from there walk back along the river
to the car, which will take
you also one hour.
Written area guides and moving maps are available in our bookshops
and/or can be also borrowed.
