The Oberhofalm (1300 m)
is a popular destination
and also a starting point
for some easy walks

You can drive to this region
by car directly from Filzmoos
on a mountain road

Here you’ve already
a magnificent view
to the tremendous
rockslides from the Bischofmütze,
and the landlord of the Oberhofalm
will be pleased to show you
his photograph album with the
chronicle of this mountain

You can make some small
walks in the area of
the alpine pasture:

for example, walk uphill to the
little lake Almsee, walk along
the lake and go back on the other
side via the Unterhofalm
(1 hour walking time)

Here it should be mentioned,
that the first alpine pasture is the
Oberhofalm and the alpine pasture
a little bit more uphill is the
Unterhofalm

A walk, also worthwhile
with children, leads you uphill
to the hutHofpürglhütte
(1705 m – 1 hour walking time)

The view and the
stay here are magnificent

Now you can go back
the same way – or use
a little bit longer but very
beautiful variant :

Use the path Linzerweg
which leads along the
rockslides of the Bischofmütze,
and then beneath the Steiglpaß
and the Gosaustein

On the whole way
you can enjoy the view to the South -
and go then over alpine pastures
back to your starting point
(2 hours from the Hofpürglhütte)

An also worthwhile tour
is the walk to the
Rötelstein

Walk from the Oberhofalm
through the forest and over
alpine pastures uphill to the
mountain hutWallehenhütte (1612 m)
- to that point you can drive by ca

Walk then up to a
saddle-like hill
the Sulzenhals (1827 m)

Now walk up the slope with the
mountain pines on the right side
and you’ll reach a rocky area -
not dangerous, but your hands
will have to help you a little bit

After that the path leads
relatively flat to the summit
of the Rötelstein (2247 m, 2 hours walking
time from the Wallehenhütte)

Theview of the
near Dachstein, the
Gosaukamm, the Bischofmütze,
as well as the valley Ennstal
and the summits of the Lower Tauern
is great
Way back like way up

Alpine hikers with a good condition
can make also many interesting
crossings in the area
Dachstein-Gosaukamm, starting
from the Oberhofalm
