Destination:
The village Obertraun
is situated on the
south end
of the lake
Hallstättersee
in the Salzkammergut

Obertraun is known
as a ski area
and starting point
for tours to the Dachstein area

Further has Obertraun
also a big offer for cave tours

The caves Koppenbrüllerhöhle,
the gigantic ice-cave Dachstein-Rieseneishöhle,
the Mammut-cave
and a cave museum
are unique attractions

Go by car in an hour
from the House Grabler, Altmünster
– or by train –
via Bad Ischl and Hallstatt
to Obertraun to the
train station „Obertraun-
Koppenbrüllerhöhle“

Walk from there
about 1 km to the entry
to the cave
Koppenbrüllerhöhle,
which is really worth seeing

If you want
to visit the other caves
take the road on the right side
to the Krippenstein cable car

before you reach the village

The Mammut-cave
is in the area of the alpine pasture
Schönbergalm, after the first part
of the road and a little bit above
the ice-cave Dachstein-Rieseneishöhle - both about half an hour walking time
away from the cable car

Two hints for the cave:
Ask on time for the
guided tours and take
warm clothes with you
also on nice days
- it's cold inside!
