The rocky Gjaidstein
is situated in the middle
of the Dachstein area,
immediately opposite
the main summit Dachstein
|

You can reach that point
also without much
mountain experience,
it’s an easy walk.
|
|
|
Drive up the toll-road
to the Dachstein-cable car
and use the cable car to get
up to the Hunerkogel (2687 m)
|
|
|
Walk from here a few metres
downhill, cross a
short, not dangerous
part of the glacier
and walk then to the Gjaidstein (2794 m),
(relatively flat part, one and a
half hour
walking time)
|
|
|
Overwhelming beautiful
is the view from the summit
to all directions
|
|
|
Beneath you is the glacier,
opposite the significant
Dachstein-summit
and behind the valley Ennstal
you can see the Low
and also partly the High Tauern
|
|

You can walk from the summit
of the Hoher Gjaidstein
via the mountain
Taubenkogel downhill
to the station Oberfeld of the
top end of the cable car
(4 hours walking time) |
