Map of the region

Go by car in 1 hour
from the House Grabler,
Altmünster, via Bad Ischl
to Bad Aussee

At the train station (639 m)
you’ll find a
parking space

As the starting and
end point of this round tour
are in the immediate surroundings
of the train station,
it's recommendable to go there
by train

Now, walk just 10 minutes
along the road and take then
the way on the left,
which begins to rise gently
and gets slowly steeper

Shortly before you reach
the plateau
you’ll have to get over
a rocky, but not dangerous
steep part

Because of the rapid rise
you’ll make an altitude difference
of 1100 high metres in 3 hours

Now walk on
through a relatively flat
and stony area,
full of mountain pines . . .

and go the last
100 high metres
up to the big
summit cross (1854 m)

Enjoy the loneliness
of this not much known summit
and the fantastic panorama:

In the South you see
the whole Dachstein-plateau,
in the West is the Sarstein,
and beneath you the
Ausseer-Land
and behind the mountain range
Totes Gebirge

A different way back begins
about 200 m after the summit
on the left side and leads
gently down to the alpine pasture
Handleralm (1650 m)

Past it, the path
rises the last time for a few metres
and leads afterwards
rapidly down to the valley,
similar to the way up

For hikers with
special staying power (self-caterer)
and with a maximum of sense of direction
exist between the Ausseer Zinken
and the Stoderzinken
(about 15 km as the crow flies)
and the Salza-reservoir
many lonely
paths and alpine pastures

But this is just for real
individualists, so that we
don’t need to
describe these paths here
