Steineck

Drive by car from the House Grabler,Almtünster,in half an hour to St. Konrad and further on 2 km eastwards
Take te small road "Güterweg Dürrnberg" on the right, before the main road leads down in some bends to the "Halsgraben" and the valley Almtal
While driving along the 3 km long road you'll see your destination in front of you
Approx. 200 m after the farm Dürrnberg-Hof begins the path at the barrier in 800 m above sea level
After half an hour on the forest road you'll reach the huts in the Schrattenau (981 m)
This point, where many paths and forest roads cross, can be reached also from the airport Scharnstein on the 4 km long, small road Hochbuchegg - drive up this road to the height of 742 m
You'll need about an hour to walk from here to the Schrattenau
Leave the Schrattenau southwards and walk on another 20 minutes on the forest road
Then leave this road and take the ruttled path, used for transporting wood, on the right side up the timber forest
The path gets more alpine and is unfortunately just poorly marked
After an hour of walk from the forest road on you'll be on the small but wonderful summit of the Steineck, 1418 m high
As a variant for the way back we can recommend you the path over the "Trapez"
Walk from the Steineck eastwards and in a frew minutes you'll be on the near side summit,
cross it and go through a large hollow down to the forest road and back to the Schrattenau
