Destination: The Moasnkögerl is a small rock summit,
which towers above a wooded hill in the valley AlmtalDrive by car from the
House Grabler, Altmünster,
in about 30 minutes
to ScharnsteinTake the road
towards Pettenbach;
in the centre of the village,
at the castle Scharnstein,
drive down right to the river Alm
and than cross the river
in a bend to the left.By the way,
the crime museum
and the reptile zoo
in the castle Scharnstein
are worth seeingTake the small road
Hamberg at the right,
about a kilometre
away from the castleDrive uphill 3 km
and before the road
turns to the North
in a large bend to the left
you'll find a parking space
at the right side of the roadA steep path
leads you up in 10 minutes
to a saddle-like hill,
then walk up on a
little bit more gentle path
to the timber forest at the rightThe forest path leads
a little bit downwards
but after a few metres
you'll leave him
and take the narrow pass
on the right side uphillPass a little hut,
walk on on the right side
and you'll soon reach
an actual topFollowing the path
westwards you'll come
to a rock with a small
memorialNow, go just a few steps downhill,
on the last metres to the
summit cross
you'll need the help
of your handsYou've now an overview
to Scharnstein
and his surroundings,
like sitting on a throne![]()
Walking time is about an hour
and the difference of the altitude
is about 200 metresThis tour is completely
harmless, but the
rock of the summit is
a little bit exposed
