Drive by car
to the village Scharnstein and
take than a taxi
to the height of the Ziehberg
at Steinbach (650 m).![]()
After passing the last farm
walk uphill about 3 km
through the mountain forest to the
„Sattelhalt"
(1000 m)
and than
along the forest road in about
half an hour to the
alpine pasture
Gradnalm
(1300 m)From here you can
reach the
Kremsmauer
(1604 m)
or in an hour
the Pfannstein (1423 m)
– both recommendable
also with a crossing.![]()
At the Pfannstein begins
the harmless
crossing
to the valley Almtal.

Just go along the
approx. 10 km,
without much difference in height,
to theRauhkogel
(Mittagstein).After the Rauhkogel
the path leads down to
a valley and to the
„Gezimmerten Brunnen“
and than
the path rises slowly up
about 300 metres (altitude)
to the
Hochsalm
(1405 m)![]()
At the way down
you can make a little worthwhile
"detour" to the
Moasnkögerl.

For the whole crossing
from the Ziehberg to Scharnstein
you'll need 8 to 10 hours of walk
depending on the condition;
a second car would be favourable![]()
There are also many crossings from the valley Almtal to the valley Trauntal.
